Sarah C. Geraci
I once read that the hands were the greatest tool given to man by the almighty, making man equal to God in the creation of His world. Though I'm not terribly religious, I do find this to be a very moving inspiration. It encourages me to create art as my gift to the world. Painting and sewing are my two passions. Equally they both allow me to illustrate my experience for others. My work starts as the biggest inspiration from the smallest object and grows to completion on the canvas. Even if that canvas is someone's neck. It is not just the subject that is important to me, but the surface as well. I will use found objects, such as sequins or beads, to create texture. I feel it adds drama to the pieces. Color is the most powerful force in my work. A project just isn't complete until the colors and contrasts excite me. My creations are physical representations of my love for life. I am driven by the impulse to share them with the world.
